According to Peter Cooney, an analyst at SAR Insight & ConsulTIng, the global wireless headset market is rapidly taking off and is expected to surpass the wired headset market in 2008.

The consumer headset market will rise steadily in 2020, reaching an annual revenue of US $ 15.5 billion, and is expected to continue to grow strongly in 2020, reaching a value of over US $ 20 billion.

SAR Insight & ConsulTIng predicts that between 2016 and 2020, there will be more than 1 billion wireless stereo headsets shipped worldwide, and the total cumulative revenue of wireless stereo headsets is expected to exceed 60 billion U.S. dollars.

"Sensors will become more and more important in wireless stereo headsets," Cooney said. "This market was initially driven primarily by sports applications. In the longer term, there will be strong demand for sensors in multi-purpose listening devices."

The Asia-Pacific region is expected to be the fastest growing region for wireless headset sales, especially in the Chinese market.
